Every siding install includes a rainscreen. A rainscreen creates a small ventilated air gap between the siding and the wall behind it. Water that gets past the cladding drains out instead of sitting against your sheathing, and air moving through the cavity lets the wall dry. The result is a wall that breathes, stays dry, and resists the rot, mould, and premature paint or siding failure that trapped moisture causes. It is the single best upgrade you can make to protect your home's structure, and we install it behind every siding application we do.

Flashings

Most water damage does not start in the middle of a roof or wall. It starts at a transition, where one material meets another: roof to wall, siding to window, deck to house. Flashing is the formed metal or membrane that catches water at those points and directs it back out to the surface, and it is the part of the building envelope that fails first when it is missing, undersized, or poorly lapped.
Yes, even in a dry climate. The Okanagan may get less rain than the coast, but it still sees wind-driven rain, rapid snowmelt, ice damming, and constant freeze-thaw cycling. Water only needs a small opening. A slow leak behind the cladding can rot sheathing and framing, feed mould, and soak insulation for years before any stain shows up inside, and by then the repair is rarely small.
Good flashing is not a bead of caulking. It is a layered system: every piece laps over the one below it so gravity carries water out, it integrates with the weather-resistive barrier and house wrap, and it is fabricated to suit the detail rather than forced into a stock shape.
